Supercol/E-MRS speaker: Dr. Virginia Martínez-Martínez

For our third session: “Biomedical applications of nanoparticles”, We are honored to have the participation of Dr. Virginia Martínez-Martínez, telling us about “Functionalization of Photosensitized Silica Nanoparticles for Bioimaging and Photodynamic Therapy in Cancer Cells”.

She is a tenured researcher at the Physical Chemistry Department at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU), working on Materials Chemistry and Spectroscopy.

Currently, her projects involve Photoactive hybrid materials, based on the combination of fluorescent dyes into porous zeolitic systems for optical applications; Multifunctional Dyes as fluorescent biomarkers and new photosensitizers; Functionalized Nanoparticles for photodynamic therapy and theragnosis.
